Dear Lafayette Students and Parents:

At Lafayette, we are concerned for the student who suffers a serious illness or accident and has to leave the College before the semester is completed. In many instances, such circumstances mean not only the loss of time invested in studies, but also a significant financial loss. We are pleased to make you aware of an insurance program called the Tuition Refund Plan (TRP) which can help to protect your educational investment.

The TRP is an optional insurance plan administered by A.W.G. Dewar of Quincy, Massachusetts and protects your educational investment by reimbursing up to 75% of tuition, fees, room, and board paid to Lafayette when a student is forced to withdraw due to a personal illness or accident. When combined with the College's published refund policy, reimbursement up to 75% of the tuition, fees, room, and board paid to the College can be possible.
The cost of this optional insurance for the 2021/2022 academic year is $694 for students living in College provided housing and $535 for students living in non-College provided housing. Please carefully review the coverage section concerning the TRP and assess the plan's suitability for you. If you wish to enroll in the plan online, please submit your application and payment by the first day of classes, Monday, August 30, 2021. Applications cannot be accepted after the first day of classes.
